What can you see in the photo?

C’est un mariage. L’homme et la femme se sont mariés à l’église. La jeune mariée est habillée en blanc et son mari porte un costume. Ils sont sur les marches de l’église et il y a aussi leur famille et leurs amis.
It's a wedding day. The man and the woman have got married in the church. The bride is dressed in white and her husband is wearing a suit. They are on the church steps and their family and friends are also there.

Je suis allé au mariage de ma cousine l’été dernier. C’était dans un village en Écosse et il faisait chaud. Après le mariage à l’église, nous avons mangé un énorme repas dans un hôtel et puis on a fait la fête. C’était génial et j’avais de la chance d’avoir été invité.
I went to my cousin's wedding last summer. It was in a village in Scotland and the weather was hot. After the church wedding, we ate a huge meal at a hotel and then we partied. It was great and I was lucky to be invited.

Oui, je veux me marier si je trouve la personne que j’aime. Ma copine dit qu’elle ne se marierait jamais parce qu’elle ne veut pas dépenser tout cet argent dans une fête. Je comprends son point de vue mais je ne suis pas d’accord avec elle.
Yes, I want to get married if I find the person I love. My friend says that she will never get married because she does not want to spend all that money on a party. I understand her point of view but I do not agree with her.

In your opinion, is marriage outdated?

C’est un peu démodé mais j’aime la tradition. Ce qui est important, c’est d’être avec la personne qu’on aime. On n’est pas obligé de faire la fête si on n’en veut pas. Par contre, je trouve que c’est démodé de se marier juste pour faire plaisir à ses parents ou la famille.
It's a bit outdated but I like the tradition. What is important is being with the person you love. You don’t need to have a party if you don’t want to. On the other hand, I find it old-fashioned to get married just to please the parents or the family.

Do you think it is more important to have a best friend than a spouse?

Selon moi, les amis seront toujours là pour vous, même quand on se dispute avec son partenaire. Je crois que l’idéal serait de se marier avec un meilleur ami.
In my opinion, friends will always be there for you, even when you have arguments with your partner. I believe that the ideal would be to get married to a good friend.
