Photo-based speaking task
Look at the photo and practise how you would answer the questions yourself. The answers below are suggestions. Your answers don’t have to be true, but it is easier to remember what to say if it is true. The bullet points are in French. The English translation is provided below.

The card is asking you to look at the photo and prepare answers to the following points:
- la description de la photo – description of the photo.
- ton opinion sur ta famille – your opinion on your family.
- ce que tu as fait avec ta famille le weekend dernier – what you did with your family last weekend.
- ce que tu vas faire avec tes copains le weekend prochain – what you are going to do with your friends next weekend.
- opinion : passer du temps avec ta famille ou tes copains – your opinion on whether to spend time with your family or your friends.

Sur la photo on voit une famille qui se dispute. Le père et la mère ne sont pas très contents et je pense que les enfants aussi sont tristes. À mon avis, la famille n’est pas heureuse.
In the photo you can see a family arguing. The father and the mother are not very happy and I think that the children are sad as well. In my opinion, it is not a happy family.

Moi, j’aime ma famille. Et toi, comment trouves-tu ta famille ?
I like my family. And you, how do you find your family?

Moi aussi, j’aime les membres de ma famille. Je m’entends très bien avec eux car tout le monde est gentil et aimable. De temps en temps, je me dispute avec mon frère parce qu’il m’énerve, mais la plupart du temps, il est amusant et je l’aime bien.
I like my family as well. I get on very well with them because everyone is kind and friendly. Sometimes I argue with my brother because he gets on my nerves, but most of the time, he is funny, and I like him.

Tell me about what you did with your family last weekend.

Le weekend dernier, nous sommes allés au centre commercial, où nous avons fait du shopping. J’ai acheté un pantalon et ma sœur a acheté de nouvelles chaussures. Le soir, nous avons regardé un film à la télé mais c’était assez ennuyeux.
Last weekend we went to the shopping centre where we did some shopping. I bought some trousers and my sister bought some new shoes. In the evening we watched a film on TV but it was quite boring.

What are you going to do with your friends next weekend?

Le weekend prochain, nous allons jouer au basket au centre sportif. Je pense que ce sera très amusant, parce que je m’entends très bien avec mes copains. Aussi, nous allons manger au snack.
Next weekend, we’re going to play basketball at the sports centre. I think that it will be lots of fun because I get on very well with my friends. Also, we’re going to eat at the snack bar there.

Je préfère passer du temps avec les membres de ma famille parce que je les aime beaucoup et je m’amuse quand je suis avec eux. Cependant, mes copains sont aussi amusants et j’aime passer du temps avec eux au collège.
I prefer spending time with my family because I like them a lot and I have fun when I am with them. However, my friends are also lots of fun and I like spending time with them at school.
