Role-play - Taking clothes back to a shop
Practise taking part in a conversation in a clothes shop. Read the instructions and prepare what you will say.
Scenario:
You are in a clothes shop in France. Your teacher works in the shop and will speak first.
The bullet points give an idea of what might be asked, so use these to prepare. Where there is an exclamation mark (!) a surprise question will be asked and where there is a question mark (?), you will need to ask a question yourself.

Transcript:
Salesperson: Bonjour, je peux vous aider ?
Customer: Oui, j’ai acheté ce pantalon la semaine dernière.
Salesperson: Ah... et il y a un problème ?
Customer: Oui, il est trop petit et je n’aime pas la couleur.
Salesperson: Alors, qu’est-ce que vous voulez faire ?
Customer: Est-ce que je peux l’échanger, s’il vous plait ?
Salesperson: Oui, bien sûr. Est-ce que vous achetez vos vêtements en ligne ?
Customer: Non, je préfère les acheter dans les magasins parce qu’il y a des cabines d’essayage.
Salesperson: Je suis bien d’accord avec vous ! Et quand est-ce que vous porterez ce pantalon ?
Customer: Je vais le porter à une fête ce soir.
Salesperson: C’est bien, il vous va très bien.
Translation:
Salesperson: Hello, can I help you?
Customer: Yes, I bought these trousers last week.
Salesperson: OK. Is there a problem?
Customer: Yes, they are too small and I don’t like the colour.
Salesperson: So, what would like to do?
Customer: Can I exchange them please?
Salesperson: Of course. Do you buy clothes online?
Customer: No, I prefer to buy in shops because there are fitting rooms.
Salesperson: OK. When will you wear these trousers?
Customer: I’ll wear them to a party this evening.
Salesperson: That’s good.
