Scenario:

You are in a clothes shop in France. Your teacher works in the shop and will speak first.

The bullet points give an idea of what might be asked, so use these to prepare. Where there is an exclamation mark (!) a surprise question will be asked and where there is a question mark (?), you will need to ask a question yourself.

Salesperson: Bonjour, vous avez essayé quelque chose ?

Customer: Oui, j’ai essayé cette chemise à rayures.

Salesperson: C’est la bonne taille ?

Customer: Non, je voudrais une taille en dessous.

Salesperson: D'accord. Et en quelle couleur ?

Customer: Je préfère la chemise blanche.

Salesperson: Voilà. Comment est-ce que vous voulez payer ?

Customer: Je peux payer par carte bancaire.

Salesperson: Oui, d’accord.

Customer: À quelle heure ferme le magasin ?

Salesperson: À dix-neuf heures.

Customer: Merci.

Translation:

Salesperson: Hello, have you tried something?

Customer: Yes, I’ve tried this striped shirt.

Salesperson: Is it the right size?

Customer: No, I’d like the size below.

Salesperson: Good. And what colour?

Customer: I prefer the white shirt.

Salesperson: Here you are. How do you want to pay?

Customer: I want to pay by bank card.

Salesperson: Ah, OK.

Customer: What time does the shop close?

Salesperson: At 19:00.

Customer: Thank you.
