How to write a hotel review
Online reviews can be helpful when trying to decide where to stay.
Here's how to write a review - eine Bewertung schreiben - in German.
Question
Read the first part of this review.
Now, write down the following:
- all the activities mentioned
- any adverbs (eg time, place)
- any justification - something which adds to an opinion
- any negative statements
- a translation of the review
Activities
- Aktivurlaub – an active holiday
- Ausflüge – excursions
- Radtouren – bike rides
- Wanderungen – walking
Adverbs
- eine Woche – (for) a week
- von dort aus – from there
- in der Nähe – nearby
- leider – unfortunately
Justification
- weil man von dort aus viele Ausflüge, Radtouren und Wanderungen machen kann – because from there you can go on lots of excursions, bike rides or walks.
Negative statements
- Leider gibt es kein Schwimmbad in der Nähe. – Unfortunately there isn't a swimming pool nearby.

Don't forget that if you wanted to use these phrases, you would have to add verbs, as is the case in the original review.
Translation
The hotel is very clean and well looked after and the staff, especially at reception, were really nice. The room was quite big with a seating area, a big bed and a TV, although the walls were relatively thin and from time to time there was noise from the neighbours. The towels were of good quality, the bathroom was modern and what's more there was always a lot of hot water.
