Your French friend has sent you an email. He/She asks your opinion on voluntary work.
Write a response to your friend. You must refer to the following points:
- the types of voluntary work that you can do
- positive and negative aspects of voluntary work
- recent voluntary work
- your plans for voluntary work

On peut faire du travail bénévole pour une association caritative, ou on peut aider quelqu’un, par exemple une personne âgée.
Les aspects positifs du bénévolat sont que c’est utile pour aider les personnes défavorisées et c’est très important pour les associations caritatives qui n’ont pas beaucoup d’argent. Par contre, l’aspect négatif, c’est qu’on n’est pas payé pour son travail.
Il y a deux mois, j’ai participé à une collecte dans mon école. J’ai trié les dons et je les ai mis dans des colis.
Plus tard, je vais faire du bénévolat avant d’aller à l’université. Je vais travailler avec de jeunes réfugiés.
Translation:
You can do volunteer work for a charity or you can help someone, for example an older person.
The positive aspects of voluntary work are that it’s useful to help disadvantaged people and it’s very important for charities that don’t have a lot of money. However, a negative aspect is that you don’t get paid for your work.
Two months ago, I helped with a collection at my school. I sorted the donations and put them in parcels.
In the future, I’m going to do volunteer work before going to university. I’m going to work with refugee children.
