Salut. Je m’appelle Caroline et en ce moment, je fais une année sabbatique. Je suis en train de passer six mois en Thaïlande, à Bangkok. Au début, c’était difficile parce que c’était un vrai choc culturel et je ne parlais pas le thaï. Pourtant, je veux être agent de voyage à l’étranger et c’est une excellente occasion de connaître une culture qui est différente de la mienne. La religion, la musique, la nourriture tout est différent et c’est fascinant.
Hi. My name’s Caroline and at the moment, I am having a gap year. I am spending six months in Thailand, in Bangkok. At first, it was difficult because it was a real cultural shock and I didn’t speak Thai. However, I want to be a travel agent abroad and it’s a great opportunity to get to know a culture which is different to mine. Religion, music, food, everything is different and it’s fascinating.

Je m’appelle Mohammed. Mon copain Guy va passer une année sabbatique aux États-Unis où il travaillera comme entraineur de foot. Il a vraiment de la chance. J’avais envie de faire la même chose, mais comme plus tard je veux être avocat, il fallait que je commence mes études tout de suite. Bien que je sois envieux de voir Guy partir la semaine prochaine, je ne regrette pas ma décision. Je viens de commencer mes études à la fac et j’ai l’intention de passer une année à l’étranger après avoir fini mes études universitaires.
My name’s Mohammed. My friend Guy is going to spend a gap year in the United States where he will work as a football coach. He’s really lucky. I wanted to do the same thing, but as later on I want to be a lawyer, I had to start studying straight away. Although I am going to be jealous seeing Guy leaving next week, I don’t regret my decision. I have just started my university course and I intend to spend a year abroad when I have finished my university course.
