Mental factors

There are various mental factors that can impact on a performance. Anything, which affects the cognitive thoughts of a performer, would come under the mental factor.

Concentration

During a dance routine being able to remain fully focused will impact a performance positively as the performer will be able to concentrate on the correct timings and link movements.

This allows the performer to stay in time if they are dancing with a group and also shows a smooth transition from motif to motif, making the routine look professional.

Decision-making

Making the correct decisions during a game of netball will allow the performer to:

  • select the correct type of pass
  • make the decision on when to make the pass

This will impact the performer’s performance positively by allowing them to make accurate, well-timed passes that will result in their team have an attacking option at goal.
