Procession route, travel and parking

Enjoying Birmingham carnival
Hundreds of spectators will line the procession route to watch local people from the community wearing colourful costumes and dancing next to floats of groups playing in steelbands.Also see parking travel details below.

The first Birmingham carnival was at Handsworth park in 1984

The vibrant procession led by the new carnival queen starts at 12.30pm from Holyhead Road, Handsworth and makes its way through Perry Barr to Perry Park. Carnival ends at 9pm with a big fireworks display.

Getting there

(N.B) The best and stress free way to get to carnival is by bus due to road closures and parking restrictions.

By Bus
Sunday buses to Perry Park : 33, 34A, 46A, 51, 52, 107 from Birmingham City Centre

To reduce congestion travel by bus Travel West Midlands has some great Daysaver tickets on offer and the number 33, 34A, 46A, 51, 52 and 107 buses stop at Perry Park.

News image Buses will be diverted because of road closures owing to the Carnival procession during the day – so to find bus stopping points call 0870 608 2 608 or go to travelwm.co.uk.

By Road
From the M6: Get off at Junction 7 for Great Barr. Go onto the A34 for Birmingham and then keep on this road for approx 2 miles.

From Birmingham City Centre: Join the A34 (Walsall) at the Lancaster Circus roundabout. Stay on this road for approx 4 miles taking the right hand lane over the flyover by Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium. The Alexander Stadium and Perry park is signposted on your right.
