Rail Around Birmingham and the West Midlands

A very informative site by Andy Doherty. Lots of rail news, maps, photographs and even tips on rail research. It also includes web links for railway and related sites.

Ladywood Past and Present

A website by Mac Joseph covering the Birmingham area of Ladywood from an historical perspective, including a photographs, memoirs, maps etc.

The Black Country Living Museum

Although no trains, they've got trams and trolley buses to ride on, as well as lots of non transport things to see and do.

The Railways Archive

Visit the Railways Archive website to see their free online archive of documents charting the development of Britain's railways.

Solihull Model Railway Circle

For those interested in 'smaller' train, The Solihull Model Railway Circle (founded in 1951) is still active today. Find out more including tips on modelling.

Virtual Brum

Lots of historical facts including the railways.

Warwickshire Railways

A good source of information from Mike Musson. It contains an archive of photos and details on the lost lines and stations.

West Midlands Exploration

This website takes a transport related tour (not just trains) of the West Midlands - mainly in photographs.

BBC Black Country website

Take a look at the Golden Age of Steam in the Black Country, for the effects of the Beeching Report and for some lovely railway memories.

BBC Coventry website

Many of Warwickshire's past railway lines and stations are now part of Birmingham, so why not visit the Golden Age of Steam section of the BBC Coventry website.
