 | SK1 is an East London boy who made his name in the music industry through his great talent and passion for music.
How does it feel to perform in front of such a loud crowd?
"It feels great, I'm enjoying my time in Slough, this is actually my third time at the Slough Mela and I feel that this time I have enjoyed it even more than before".
How would you describe your music to someone who hasn't heard it before?
"My music is folk...it is an advanced version of folk and a mixture of Punjabi. I have good melody in my music, good lyrics, good vocals and most of all we never copy anyone".
How did you get into to music?
"When I was young I used to sing, but I never thought that I would become a singer. I used to work very hard and I used to and still do practice very hard".
Were you inspired by anyone?
"Yes, I was inspired by Mohammed Rafi, Ustad Nusrat Feteh Ali Khan and Ghulam Ali".
Have you got anything planned for the future?
"I have an album coming out at the end of July, it's called 'Expressions', it's got everything bhangra, punjabi and much more. I hope it's going to be a big hit because I have worked a whole year on this album and I feel that when you do something you should do it in such a way that everybody is impressed by it".
What advice would you give anyone who wants to get into music?
"My advice to people would be that work hard, work very hard, try and get yourself a music tutor and then learn and understand from them. After that get into the music industry, but you should never give up".
