 | | Paperchain The Slough Youth Festival is just around the corner and youngsters all over Slough have started to prepare short films, drama acts and much more to compete in the festival. I spoke to some of the students involved in a short film called Paperchain. |
 | Slough Youth Festival is running for its second successful year, and many youngsters have already started to prepare for it.
A group of 20 students aged 16+ took part in a film and music soundtrack project in Slough.
This was an intense three-week course within which these students had to complete a short film based on Slough, so that then the film could take part in the Slough Youth Festival. The Festival is running in its second year and is for young people aged 16 to 25 to take part in it through film-making, Bhangra dancing and much more.
The title of this short film as agreed by the students is 'Paperchain'.
These students were advised and guided by local film maker Asham Kamboj. Asham has already made two films, one of which he won an award for.
"Well my first film, 'Rent' was a hit, it won an award abroad and in England. That gave me a real step up in film making, apart from that I have done commercials and I have also given speeches at universities. I have also started planning my third project, it is going to be a future film and we should shooting for it by the beginning of next year".
When I asked Asham how he would describe the youngsters on the course, he told me:
"They were very creative and enthusiastic, they stuck to their jobs and supported each other very well".
As with every film, all the crew had their own separate positions and responsibilities.
Lee Milner (shown in a black T-shirt) is just one of the students who has taken part in making Paperchain. When I asked Lee what he thought of the course he told me:
"The course is very professional, we used some great equipment and we also had a set budget within which we had to complete the film in".
Lee also said that the documentary conveys a message within itself:
"The documentary shows its audience the good aspects of Slough and that it is not really a bad place to be".
The film's actor is Chris Andrews, this is the first time Chris has acted in a short film but he describes the experience as being very "cool and exciting".
When I asked Chris what he thought of the course, he told me:
"The course is very good experience for anyone who wants to get into acting or anything in the media".
