"I loved my job. Politics had always been my thing and being elected to parliament...well...I can't describe how it felt. Being an MP was something I always dreamed of. It did take up a huge amount of time and could be exhausting but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Serving the local community is my real passion. Don't get me wrong, the House of Commons was wonderful but I really enjoyed my constituency surgeries at the Parkside Centre. They gave me a chance to be part of the hustle and bustle of Silver Street and reminded me where my priorities lay...
"It was my father who set up my marriage with Akram. He was lost when he retired the first time so I worried about how he'd adjust to permanent retirement, after that business with the fake passport. I guess I inherited his passion for helping people- and I certainly couldn't have made it without his support. He was there for me every step of the way, unlike my first husband. He didn't want me to pursue my career and he took all his insecurities out on me. You know, I'm still angry at myself for tolerating it for so long. Yes, the only good thing to come out of that marriage were my children..."
"When the new Doctor, Hassan, arrived I couldn't work him out. He was arrogant, opinionated and full of himself...but there's something that kept drawing me to him. It took me a while to get to know what really makes him tick and things are so wonderful, we got married not so long ago! I have a good feeling about our future..."
