"I like Silver Street and have been here for almost one year now. The community is very welcoming here. I much prefer this to living in London.
I try to visit my family in Egypt when I can but the country also holds painful memories for me. I grew up in Cairo and can still remember when Sadat became president of Egypt in 1970. I also studied medicine there before continuing in London. I love travelling and spent two years in Jeddah before going on the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca. I did vow to become a better person but perhaps haven't been as good as I promised to be. Maybe I need to go again? I also went backpacking round Europe after University but my father was not at all happy about this.
I try to escape from my busy life as a doctor when I get the opportunity. I would probably read something by Mahfouz - he is a great writer and I have collected lots of his work.
Life is great since I met Shazia and tied the knot. I've even met her sons and we all get on famously."
