Overview

Greece is a member of the European Union and in 2001 there were about 35,000 people born in the country living in Britain.

A third of them were in London, with sizeable populations also in Sunderland, Manchester's Moss Side, Birmingham and Colchester.

As with other EU nations, the London clusters appear in affluent areas of west London.

Outside London and the South East, the greatest changes between 1991 and 2001 were increases in the North East.

10% of local areas across Britain have no Greece-born people living in their neighbourhoods.
