Belgium-born people resident in Britain numbered just over 21,000 at the 2001 census one of the smaller national complements in the country.
There was a growth in the number of Belgium-born people across all of the country, although the majority are resident in London and the south-east.
Outside the capital, some small clusters of Belgium-born people are found in areas not necessarily associated with high levels of immigration, such as Southampton and the Tyne Bridge area of Newcastle.
Some of the clustering also appears to be related to university towns.
