Man accused of Danielle's murder
Danielle search
A massive search was launched for Danielle
A 25-year-old man has been charged with the murder of five-year-old Danielle Reid.

Her body was found in the Caledonian Canal, near Inverness, last week by police divers.

Lee Gaytor, the boyfriend of Danielle's mother, appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday.

Mr Gaytor, 25, of Argyle Street, in the city, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Danielle's mother Tracy Reid, 24, and Mr Gaytor, both of Argyle Street, Inverness, appeared at the city's sheriff court last week in connection with her death.

Also charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice in connection with the disappearance of Danielle from the city was Mr Gaytor's brother Christopher Gaytor, 22, of Morvich Way, Inverness.

All three are expected to appear in court on that charge later this week.

The Crown Office on Monday confirmed that the body recovered by police divers, from the Muirtown Basin of the Caledonian Canal, on 7 January was that of Danielle.

Danielle was reported missing on New Year's Eve.
