Two girls killed in crash
Two teenage girls have been killed and two others seriously injured in a car crash on the Mull of Kintyre.

The four, all aged 17, were in a Ford Fiesta which was in collision with a Volvo on the B843 Campbeltown to Machrihanish road shortly before 2200 GMT on Friday.

Emergency crews had to cut all four girls free from the wreckage of their car, but the two back seat passengers died at the scene.

They were named as Judith Angus of Witchburn Road, Campbeltown, and Emma Paterson of Rhudal Cotages, Drumlemble.

Minor injuries

The other two girls, the driver and front seat passenger, were taken to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital where they were said to be in a "stable" condition.

All four girls were pupils at Campbeltown High.

The 42-year-old male driver of the Volvo was treated for minor injuries at Campbeltown Hospital before being allowed to go home.

Police said their investigation into the crash was continuing and they appealed for witnesses to come forward.
