The child, named Misty Kyd Heath, was born at 2328 BST on Monday at the St John and Elizabeth Hospital in St John's Wood, London. The baby weighed in at 8lbs 7oz. A spokesman for the Glasgow-born singer said "she's really happy and well" though he could not explain where the name had come from.
A statement issued on the chart star's behalf said: "Both mother and baby are doing well." Texas announced last year that the band intended to take a two-year break from touring. At the time Spiteri revealed her desire to start a family with partner and magazine executive Ashley Heath. Spiteri worked as a hairdresser before finding success with the band in 1986. The band has enjoyed three UK number one albums and hits including I Don't Want A Lover, Say What You Want, Black Eyed Boy and Inner Smile. The Spiteri name comes little over a week after Victoria and David Beckham called their second baby Romeo. | See also: 02 Sep 02 | UK 02 Sep 02 | Funny Old Game 01 Sep 02 | Entertainment 04 Apr 02 | Entertainment 24 Oct 01 | Entertainment 10 May 99 | Entertainment Top Scotland stories now: Links to more Scotland stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
