| Monday, 10 February, 2003, 08:11 GMT Cameras to stop speeding motorists ![]() More speed cameras will be introduced on roads More speed cameras are to be used across Shropshire as part of a campaign to stop speeding motorists. The government backed campaign - to be launched in April - will involve the use of fixed and mobile speed cameras at locations across the county. Although the number of road casualties in Shropshire is continuing to drop overall, there is concern that the number of deaths and serious injuries went up last year. This was partly due to the number of multiple fatality crashes with just six accidents resulting in 16 deaths. The speed campaign will involve Shropshire County Council, Telford and Wrekin Borough Council, West Mercia Police and the Highways Agency. The magistrates' court service will also be involved in the campaign. | See also: 06 Feb 03 | England 28 Jan 03 | N Ireland 13 Aug 01 | UK Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
