| Wednesday, 5 February, 2003, 13:22 GMT Tube crash lines to 're-open' ![]() Two lines have been closed since the derailment Some services on the two Tube lines closed following a derailment in which 32 people were hurt are expected to start running again on 13 February. London Underground (LU) hopes to restore services on the Waterloo and City line on 13 February. It may also start running a limited shuttle service to Stratford on the eastern section of the Central Line. Both lines were shut after a Central Line train jumped the tracks and hit a wall at Chancery Lane station in central London on 25 January.
The Central Line is the longest on the Tube network with 49 stations. The closure of both lines has left an estimated 600,000 passengers a day having to find alternative routes to work. Ten replacement bus services are also operating on the western and eastern stretches of the Central Line. An interim report into the crash is expected to be published on 21 February, as LU continues its investigation. The company's managing director Paul Godier said: "Let me assure our customers that we will act upon the findings of both LU and Health and Safety Executive investigations and use our very best endeavours to ensure that a similar accident will not occur in the future." Initial findings show the accident may have been triggered by a motor shearing away from securing bolts, hitting the track and then derailing the train. | See also: 29 Jan 03 | England 28 Jan 03 | England 27 Jan 03 | England 27 Jan 03 | England 27 Jan 03 | UK Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
