| Monday, 24 June, 2002, 06:37 GMT 07:37 UK Woman killed by police car An investigation is being carried out after the incident A woman pedestrian has been killed by a police car answering a 999 call in London. The police car struck the 29-year-old woman outside Shooters Hill police station in Shooters Hill Road, south east London, shortly after 0100 BST on Monday, a spokesman for Scotland Yard said. An ambulance attended the incident but the woman, from the Shooters Hill area, was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination was expected to take place on Monday and Scotland Yard said an investigation had begun. The two officers from Eltham police station who were in the car were "extremely shaken up" and have taken sick leave. The police spokesman said the investigation would be carried out by the collision investigation unit at Catford, overseen by the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards. The Police Complaints Authority has also been informed.
