Driver lands US TV deal
Minnie Driver
Minnie Driver's US profile has increased in recent years
British actress Minnie Driver is to develop and star in her own series for US network NBC.

The Oscar-nominated Good Will Hunting star is to work on a comedy or drama to be aired in 2003 or 2004.

NBC entertainment president Jeff Zucker said: "Her crossover appeal, marquee value and winning personality make her a natural to star in her own NBC series.!

Driver, 32, starred in a string of TV dramas in the UK before her 1995 breakthrough film, Circle of Friends.

Her other film credits include Grosse Pointe Blank, with John Cusack, Sleepers with Robert De Niro, and Return To Me with David Duchovny.

She also starred in the 1995 Bond film Golden Eye, and her part in 1997's Good Will Hunting earned her an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress.

In April 2001 she was engaged to actor Josh Brolin, but the relationship broke up a few months later.

Her next film, the Disney-backed production Hope Springs, sees her appear alongside Colin Firth. It opens in the UK in November.
