Posh resting after Romeo birth
David Beckham
David Beckham said Victoria was 'fine'
Victoria Beckham is recovering in London's Portland Hospital after the birth of her and David Beckham's "gorgeous" second son Romeo.

Delivered by Caesarean section at 0940 BST on Sunday, Romeo Beckham weighs 7lb 4oz and has "Brooklyn's nose and Victoria's chin", according to his father.

Smiling younger brother Brooklyn was among those to emerge from the hospital on Monday, along with Victoria's mother Jackie.

Clutching a football under one arm, and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, the youngster raised a smile for the media scrum as he was seated in a waiting car.

Mrs Adams was also accompanied by Brooklyn's two-year-old cousin Liberty, and had arrived with a security guard carrying a glossy bag full of gifts.

"They are fine thank you," Mrs Adams told reporters.

She said David had already returned to Manchester to prepare for Tuesday's game between Manchester United and Middlesbrough.

But he had announced the birth to waiting reporters outside the hospital on Sunday.

"You're always nervous having children but it's the most beautiful thing in the world, so we're both delighted," he said.

'Doing well'

Victoria Beckham, 28, is expected to remain in hospital for the next few days to fully recover, a spokeswoman for the hospital said.

She said: "When the doctors give her the all-clear she will go home but they will keep her in for as long as necessary."

The singer was sitting up in bed doing well following the birth, the father said.

The England and Manchester United football star told reporters Victoria was "fine, she's great".

Also visiting on Monday were Victoria's sister Louise, 25, and her young daughter Tallulah, as well as David's mother Sandra.

Brooklyn, Jackie, Louise, Liberty and Tallulah later returned to the hospital, but at 1600 BST Sandra left the hospital accompanied Louise and Tallulah.

The baby's name is already a major discussion topic across the UK, but the father could only explain the choice as "just a name we love".

He added: "Brooklyn's just in awe of him. Brooklyn came in when Romeo came out - he absolutely adores him."

Exclusive hospital

Asked if three more children could make a Beckham five-a-side team, he said: "We'll work at that in a few months, maybe."

Victoria and David, 27, arrived at the exclusive hospital with Brooklyn at about 0730 BST on Sunday.

Proud grandfather Ted Beckham said he was "over the moon" at becoming a grandfather again.

Asked whether his grandsons would inherit their father's footballing skills, he added: "With my coaching and David's coaching he should have a good little side there."

The Beckhams are reported to have booked a suite of rooms at the hospital for several nights.

Busy schedule

A spokeswoman for the couple said the Caesarean procedure was not elective surgery and had been carried out under doctor's orders.

Some reports suggested Victoria had opted for a Caesarean instead of a natural birth because of her husband's busy football schedule.

But the spokeswoman said: "Because Brooklyn was a breech birth, she had to have a Caesarean section."

So Solid Crew member MC Romeo told BBC Radio 4's Today programme he did not think he was the inspiration for the unusual name.

"I don't think its named after me but if it is I'm overwhelmed.

"I just want to wish the Beckhams congratulations - nice choice of name definitely.

"I reckon little Beckham will definitely be a hit with the ladies with that name."
