Police in Indonesia have arrested two more suspects in the bombing of the resort island of Bali last year.

They include Ali Imron, the younger brother of two key suspects already arrested and awaiting trial, police said.

The arrests bring the number of people detained in connection with the attack to at least 17.

More than 190 people - mainly foreigners - were killed when two bombs tore through a nightclub district in Kuta last October.

Ali Imron and another suspect, Mubarak, were arrested on Monday as they tried to flee the country, police said.

The two men were stopped on the island of Berukang, off Samarinda in East Kalimantan province, said a police spokesman.

Police described Mr Imron as the "field co-ordinator" in the bombings. The chief of the investigation, General I Made Mangku Pastika, said the suspect had taken part in several planning meetings in East Java, and had admitted to driving the minivan used to blow up Bali's Sari nightclub.

Mubarak was said by police to have helped finance the attacks through his involvement in gold shop robberies.

Eleven men apprehended alongside the two suspects are being questioned, the Associated Press news agency quoted Lt Gen Mapaseng as saying.

Ali Imron's older brother, Amrozi, is accused of buying materials to make bombs and of purchasing the minivan used in the nightclub attack.

Another of his brothers who has been arrested, Ali Gufron, also known as Mukhlas, allegedly helped plan the attacks and is also suspected of being the operations chief for the regional militant group Jemaah Islamiah.

Indonesia has linked the group to Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network.

Police are searching for nine more men they have named as suspects in connection with the Bali attacks.
