| Friday, 15 November, 2002, 09:05 GMT In pictures: Bali cleansing ritual Thousands of people have attended an elaborate Hindu ceremony at the site of last month's deadly bombings on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali. ![]() The ceremony was an attempt to restore spiritual harmony following the devastating bombs. ![]() Some people drank chicken blood as part of a purification ritual, but it was not to everyone's taste. ![]() Several cows, goats, pigs and geese were sacrificed on the beach. ![]() Foreign tourists joined local people to mourn the dead and pray for peace. ![]() The ceremony took place amid the charred vehicles and piles of rubble at the bomb site. ![]() Police said they had deployed more than 4,000 officers on the island to tighten security for the event. |
