 Two separate crashes resulted in one death and an air lift |
Two separate road accidents in mid-Wales left one woman dead and another requiring an air ambulance flight to hospital. The fatal crash happened near New Quay in Ceredigion at about 1815 BST on Wednesday on the A486 at Post Bach, Synod Inn.
The dead woman, Amanda Jane Smith, 35, of Cwrtnewydd, Llanybydder was a passenger in a Ford Granada which collided with a Ford Maverick.
The driver of the Granada was taken to Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth.
The occupants of the Maverick were treated for shock but did not suffer physical injuries.
In another road crash involving three vehicles at Llandinam in Powys a woman had to be flown by air ambulance to Birmingham after being trapped in her vehicle for more than 90 minutes.
The Powys collision took place at 1735 BST when a lorry driven by a local man travelling towards Newtown collided with two cars travelling in the opposite direction towards Llanidloes.

One car was a Renault Megane driven by a 77-year-old man from Caersws who received treatment for his injuries at the scene by ambulance staff and later left on foot.
The other vehicle was a Rover saloon driven by a 61-year-old woman who is believed to live in the north of England.
She received serious injuries and was trapped in her vehicle for one and a half hours before fire brigade officers from Newtown and Llanidloes released her.
She was flown from the scene to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham by air ambulance.
The driver of the HGV received minor injuries.
