Soldiers injured in crash

Overturned troop carrier on Sennybridge range The soldiers were trapped beneath the troop carrier

Up to 14 soldiers have been injured - three seriously - after a troop carrier overturned on a firing range in mid Wales

The emergency services said the crash happened at GMT 1000 on Friday on the range near Sennybridge in Powys.

Four fire engines and two helicopters were sent to the scene.

The first reports indicated that the vehicle - which was on manoeuvres - had turned over after rounding a corner and the soldiers were trapped underneath.

Airlifted

The most seriously injured casualties were airlifted to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.

Eleven others were ferried to Brecon War Memorial Hospital, but are all now back at their training camp in Sennybridge.

The Armed Forces Training Centre at Sennybridge includes one of the largest firing ranges in Britain.

The rugged moorland is used by many regiments for regular training exercises.
