Festival bosses secured a new three-year licence deal
The T in the Park festival is set to be expanded to accommodate a record 80,000 music fans, it has been announced.

Festival bosses have been granted a new three-year licence by Perth and Kinross Council, which may also see campsite capacity increase to 60,000.

The July event, at Balado, Kinross, will be headlined by Snow Patrol, The Killers and Arctic Monkeys.

T in the Park boss Geoff Ellis said he did not envisage asking for any further increases in capacity in the future.

He told a special meeting of the council's licensing committee that, in order to maintain an enjoyable experience for revellers, 80,000 would be the maximum capacity for the festival in its current format.

The event previously had a 75,000 capacity limit.
