Scotland's T in the Park has scooped the best major festival title for the second year running at the 2006 UK Festival Awards.

The event, which took place near Kinross in July, won the honour with the votes of festival fans.

The Bestival music event, which is held on the Isle of Wight, took the best medium-to-large festival award.

Leicester's Summer Sundae Weekender won the award for best small festival.

Mr Ellis added: "I have to say I think T in the Park has the most passionate audience in the world, and that's what makes the bands give a lot more when they're on stage."

The Who and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers were among the top acts to perform at this year's event.

Surrey's Guilfest was named the family festival and the one-day festival award went to Monsters of Rock, which is held in Milton Keynes.
