New high school site deal agreed

A deal has been agreed for the new Earlston site
A deal has been agreed to buy the preferred site for a new high school proposed for Earlston.

There had been concerns that delays in acquiring the land at Georgefield could see the school rebuilt at its current location in the town.

It had led to the project lagging behind similar plans to build new schools in Duns and Eyemouth.

Work should now be able to start preparing the ground for the Earlston scheme before the end of the year.

The three schools are part of a 60m public private partnership scheme in the Scottish Borders.
