Earlston school problems persist

A site deal has yet to be completed for the Earlston plans
Scottish Borders Council has admitted a new Earlston High School will be "some way behind" those in Eyemouth and Duns.

The authority said there were continuing problems over the new site at Georgefield - but insisted the new building would go ahead.

Agreements were signed this week to let preparation work start on the other two high schools in the region.

Planning permission and land purchase issues mean that the Earlston scheme cannot reach that stage at present.
