City faces further strike action
Glasgow City Chambers
Glasgow City Council said they would keep looking for a resolution
Hundreds of social care workers in Glasgow could take further strike action, union officials have warned.

Unison representatives said staff would continue their strike after talks with Glasgow City Council failed to reach a conclusion.

The union said it had not received a suitable offer which could end the dispute over pay.

A council spokesman said it would continue to work on plans to bring an end to the strike.

Union and council officials will meet again on Monday.

Unison says as a result of a pay review many workers will be forced to take downgraded jobs and lose up to 1,000 a year from their salaries.

But the council said the vast majority of social care staff would get a pay increase as a result of the review.

A council spokesman said: "There will be another meeting on Monday.

"In the meantime we will continue to work on proposals which we hope will bring an end to the strike action."
