Tourists flying to Prestwick Airport boost the economy of Ayrshire |
Budget airline Ryanair is to expand its range of European destinations with four new routes from Scotland. The company announced its plans to introduce flights from Glasgow Prestwick Airport to Hungarian capital Budapest and Kaunas in Lithuania.
It will also fly to Belfast's George Best Airport, and said there are plans to reopen its Grenoble service in time for the ski season.
The new flights are due to begin in the autumn.
Bridget Dowling, spokeswoman for Ryanair, said: "Ryanair is Glasgow Prestwick's largest airline, and these four new routes will further boost holiday and tourism links into Glasgow Prestwick Airport while delivering passenger savings of 12m compared to Easyjet's high fares."
The daily flights to Belfast will begin on 30 October.
The twice-weekly Kaunas flights will run from 28 October and the Budapest service will operate three times a week from 1 November.
Budget airline Easyjet recently introduced new routes from Edinburgh to Gdansk and Krakow airports in Poland, both due to start at the end of October.
