Two new air routes from Prestwick
Riga
Riga will open to Scots tourists flying from Prestwick in October
Budget airline Ryanair has announced the first regular service between Scotland and the Latvian capital Riga.

From 31 October, there will be four flights a week from Prestwick to the Baltic city.

A new service will also fly five times a week from the west coast airport to Eindhoven in Holland.

Inbound tourism from the new routes is expected to contribute 10m to the Scottish economy each year, with half of that set to benefit Glasgow.

The new flights will increase to 23 the number of destinations served from Prestwick by Ryanair.

The airline currently flies from nine cities across the UK to Eindhoven and from six cities to Riga.

Caroline Baldwin, sales and marketing manager with Ryanair, said: "Glasgow as a destination will get coverage in these cities and it will have a massive effect on inbound tourism."

About 130,000 passengers are expected to use the new routes in their first year.
