Tories shelve EU referendum plan

The Conservatives have shelved their "cast-iron guarantee" to hold a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty if they come into power.

Shadow Foreign Secretary William Hague said the option was no longer possible, following the Czech Republic's decision to ratify the treaty.
