Jane Tomlinson is hoping to run her third London Marathon in April |
Terminal cancer patient Jane Tomlinson has completed the York half marathon despite having just completed a gruelling course of chemotherapy. Mrs Tomlinson, 39, a mother-of-three from Rothwell, Leeds, embarked on the 'Brass Monkey' event on Sunday, just 10 days after her latest treatment.
Despite being tired at the start of the race, she burst through the finish line after two hours, 14 minutes.
"I'm really pleased," she said. "I've had a really nice steady run."
Intense treatment
Mrs Tomlinson defied all odds three years ago when she was told she only had months to live.
Since then she has raised about 450,000 for charity by taking part in various endurance events, including two triathlons.
Last year, she also cycled more than 1,300 miles from John O'Groats to Land's End on a tandem bicycle with her brother Luke.
But since October, she has been undergoing intense chemotherapy treatment which has left her bald and with a low blood count.
Fundraising target
After the race, she admitted she had worried about finishing the course at York Knavesmire.
But she confirmed her plans to start training for her third London marathon in April.
"I'm really hoping to run it and this was the benchmark for me to decide," she said.
Mrs Tomlinson is now urging others to join her team for that event and help reach her fundraising target of 1m.
