Terminal cancer sufferer Jane Tomlinson is to get an honorary degree from Sheffield Hallam University. The 39-year-old, from Rothwell, Leeds, is among a group of ten who will be made Honorary Doctors.
She graduated from the university in 2002 with a postgraduate certificate in medical imaging practice and works as a radiographer at Leeds General Infirmary.
The mother-of-three has cancers throughout her body and suffers pain and disorientation.
But she has raised over �300,000 for charities by running in the London Marathon, doing triathlons, and cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End.
Her next challenge is an Iron Man event on 31 August at Sherborne Castle, Dorset, where she will have to swim 1.2 miles, cycle 56 miles and run a half-marathon.
Also being honoured by the university are television writer Kay Mellor, science personality Adam Hart-Davis, and Sheffield footballing legend Derek Dooley.
The degrees will be conferred at Sheffield City Hall between 10 and 21 November.
