Jane Tomlinson says this will be her last run this year |
Terminal cancer sufferer Jane Tomlinson completed her second Great North Run on Sunday in a faster time than last year. She finished the half-marathon in one hour 49 minutes, knocking two minutes off her 2002 time.
Only three weeks ago, Mrs Tomlinson, 39, from Rothwell in Leeds, completed the Ironman UK Triathlon.
Also this year she has completed the London Triathlon, the London Marathon and cycled from John O'Groats to Lands End.
Wind down
After Sunday's race on Tyneside, Mrs Tomlinson told the BBC that health problems meant this was probably the end off her charity fund-raising challenges for this year.
"I think I'm going to take a couple of months to rest as I've been working very hard since January and since July I've been training between 10 and 16 hours a week," she said.
"I really need to have a break and wind down and just think what I'm going to do next year if I'm lucky.
"I'm not quite as well as I was two months ago and I need to have some time to rest and realise how much treatment I might require."
Sunday's Great North Run should take the amount Mrs Tomlinson has raised for cancer charities to over 327,000.
