Unions step up pay row
Land Rover Freelander
Staff will meet to discuss the possible escalation of industrial action

Workers who spent the weekend on a picket line at Land Rover's Solihull plant are meeting on Monday to discuss possible strike action in an ongoing pay row.

Union leaders at the Lode Lane plant will meet to discuss whether to step up action in the dispute.

Employees are already carrying out a ban on overtime introduced at the beginning of 2004.

Workers are also refusing to engage in flexible working hours.

Flexible working

Union bosses want more than the 6.5% pay increase over two years offered by bosses.

Members of the TGWU and GMB trades unions have joined Amicus members in withdrawing the flexible working time arrangements they have with the car maker, owned by US car giant Ford.

Staff at the Land Rover plant in Solihull, West Midlands, will work no more than 37 hours each week.

Staff say the deal would leave them worse off than their colleagues at Jaguar - another Ford company.
