The ceremony, followed by a procession, took place on Monday. The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation was established in March and is raising funds for a state-of-the-art cancer research centre. In November, it was announced that the charity had reached the 1m mark. Sir Bobby was awarded the Freedom of Newcastle in 2005.
