Cancer drug available on the NHS
Herceptin
Research has shown Herceptin can reduce the risk of tumours returning
Breast cancer patients in the Staffordshire Moorlands can now be prescribed Herceptin on the NHS.

The primary care trust is to fund the drug for the treatment of early stage breast cancer for all patients rather than on a case-by-case basis.

Patients will still have to meet safety criteria that have been agreed by hospitals' in the area.

Staffordshire women have been campaigning for breast cancer sufferers to be prescribed the treatment.

Since the campaign began several women have been prescribed it on the NHS.
