Fifth protester gets cancer drug
Herceptin
Research has shown Herceptin can reduce the risk of tumours returning
A mother has been told she will be refunded the 6,000 she has spent on the breast cancer drug Herceptin.

Jo-Anne Leese, from Alsager, south Cheshire, paid for the treatment as she could not get it on the NHS.

Central Cheshire Primary Care Trust has now told her they will refund the cost and will pay for future treatments subject to conditions.

Mrs Lees is part of a campaign group in Staffordshire, but is the first in Cheshire to get the controversial drug.

She told BBC Stoke the news was fantastic.

It follows the decision by North Stoke Primary Care Trust to reverse its decision over Elaine Barber, from Abbey Hulton, and to also award the drug to Alison Poole, from Bagnall, and Mary Potts, of Packmoor.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Primary Care Trust has said Melanie Waite, from Clayton, can also have the treatment.
