Crowds flock to stadium opening
Keepmoat Stadium
Doncaster Rovers will play at the new stadium on New Year's Day
Thousands of people attended the opening of Doncaster's new 32m Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday.

The 15,000-seater stadium will be the new home of the Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster Belles football teams and the Doncaster Lakers rugby league side.

People got their first chance to look around the complex, which includes an athletics track, 350-seat restaurant and 10-acre park.

Visitors were advised to use public transport to avoid congestion.

The stadium also includes two full size floodlit grass pitches, a 500-seater mini stand and six-lane running track and outdoor amphitheatre for concerts.

It was originally planned to have 10,000 seats and forecast to cost 20m.

But almost 99% of the 3,222 people who took part in a public consultation agreed with plans to increase the capacity to 15,000.
