Town's 20m stadium plan
Doncaster Rovers celebrating their play-off victory in 2002/3
The stadium would provide a new home for the town's teams
Plans for a 20m community stadium in Doncaster have been announced by the town council.

The proposed 10,000-seat stadium would provide a home to Doncaster Rovers football club, women's team the Doncaster Belles and the Dragons rugby league side.

A report on the plans to transform the Lakeside area will be discussed by the council cabinet on 29 October.

The council is likely to provide 17.7m of the total building costs with the remaining investment coming from "a variety of funding streams".

Proposals for the site include hosting community sports clubs and an education suite linked to the local college.

Other ideas include providing five-a-side football pitches, a health and fitness centre, martial arts centre and hospitality boxes in the main stadium.
