The two families want crash barriers erected along the cliff edge |
Families of two men killed when their car careered over a cliff near Weston-super-Mare are taking a petition to their MP, Brian Cotter, on Tuesday. They are demanding that crash barriers are installed along the Toll Road to prevent another tragedy.
Thomas Broomhall and Julian Bowen, both 19, died in April after their car plunged off a cliff on road.
North Somerset District Council says it is waiting for a report on the road before deciding on safety measures.
Improvements, including 40,000 of resurfacing along the stretch where the accident occurred, have been carried out.
There have been four other deaths in two similar accidents since 1975.
And local woman Ann Pearson, 49, survived when her sports car came off the winding road and tumbled on to rocks 50 feet below, a year ago.
