The car was found in a car park in Telford |
A stolen vehicle has been recovered after a woman recognised it from an appeal on a social networking website. Facebook users were asked to look out for the Volkswagen Beetle after it was taken from Raven Meadows in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, on 24 March. The theft was reported to West Mercia Police but officers failed to locate it, a spokesman said. But it was found when a woman, who had read the internet appeal, told police she had seen it in a Telford car park. 'Eagle-eyed woman' West Mercia Police thanked the "eagle-eyed" woman, from Telford, who spotted the Beetle. "The stolen vehicle has been recovered and the vehicle owner has been informed," a spokesman said. "This is a very unusual way of recovering a stolen vehicle but we would like to thank the eagle-eyed member of the public for her assistance. "It's another example of the community helping police to detect crime and we would urge any members of the public who see anything suspicious in the area in which they live to call us."
