River levels prompt flood alert
Flood warnings have been issued for parts of Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, and Shropshire.

The Environment Agency said levels on the River Severn in Shropshire were still rising and a flood barriers had been erected.

Warnings are in place on the River Avon around Rugby and Warwick, on the River Leam from Marton to Leamington Spa and on the River Severn around Tewkesbury.

Low-lying property in the Ironbridge Gorge is also on flood alert.

Flood watches

Last month heavy rain saw the River Severn reach a peak in the Bridgnorth area of Shropshire of about 14.7ft (4.5m) and 15ft (4.6m) above its normal level in Bewdley in Worcestershire.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said it did not yet know if the river would reach the same level.

The second phase of the demountable barriers will be put up in Frankwell in Shrewsbury later after the recent heavy rain.

There are flood watches on the River Avon in Worcestershire, the River Blythe in Warwickshire and along the Severn in parts of Shropshire and Gloucestershire.
