Borough's burglary rate decreases
The number of burglaries across the Telford and Wrekin police division continues to drop, say police.

A total of 122 fewer burglaries have been reported this year compared to the total for 2004 in the borough.

During October, there were 40 burglaries and attempted burglaries, compared to 65 the year before.

West Mercia Police said this was due to the work of the dedicated burglary unit and information received from members of the public.

Sgt Steve Alcock, of the burglary unit, said: "The unit uses an intelligence-led approach to target known burglars who prey on their communities.

"This has led to an impressive reduction in the number of burglaries committed this year.

"However, this does not mean that householders can become complacent, especially with Christmas on the horizon."
