Crime drops by 11% across force
Crime across Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire has fallen by more than 11% in the past year, figures from West Mercia Police show.

There were 95,056 recorded offences between April 2004 and March 2005, the first time in five years that the figure has dropped below 100,000.

There was a significant decrease in house burglary, vehicle crime, violent crime and robbery, the force said.

The number of house burglaries fell by more than 19% to 4,785.

Violent crime was down by more than 15% with 19,820 offences being recorded in 2004/05. Within this figure the number of robberies recorded fell by almost 23% to 531 offences.

There were 10,943 offences of vehicle crime, a decrease of almost 10%.
